3rd WORLD MENTALITY OF SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE
On Sunday, 30th September 2007, i spent my whole day at the Myanmar Embassy to sign the petition against the brutalities of the autocratic military regime and also to be together with my fellow Singaporean compatriots and our fellow brothers and sisters from Myanmar for the candle light vigil later on that night.
The response was truly overwhelming. I’m truly heartened and touch by it. People just kept streaming in all day long. But for one thing, the actions of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), which i truly considers SPF as being a world class organisation but with a 3rd WORLD MENTALITY!
I was truly disgusted with their action when they tried to stop people, and i need to define who this people are:- people like you and me, Asian, who do not drive big fancy cars, who is not an elite, who is not an Ang Moh, from coming in to sign the petition and be together with fellow concerned citizens who wish to protest and condemn the brutalities of the military regime in Myanmar. We were stop and harass by the police, and many concerned citizens and Myanmar nationals were stop and prevented from coming in. I was there to witness the whole incident, the police harassment, the police oppression of the people! in one incident, i witness how 3 innocent Myanmar nationals were being harass by 5 to 6 poodles ( the Police) and have their particulars being taken down! This is really an intimidation and are’t Singapore suppose to be a DEMOCRATIC country? Isn’t this is what is said in our national pledge, "… TO BUILD A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY, BASE ON JUSTICE & EQUALITY…"?
But sadly, this is not suppose to be. As the days went by, more and more people are prevented from coming in and me and my fellow compatriots decided to intervene with the poodles oppression and harassment of the people. There is no law which prevents people from walking freely down the streets and the poodles have no rights to intimidate and take down their particulars! They are behaving as if they are part of the military junta in Myanmar! They are behaving like hooligans!
What shock me further is when there’s an ang moh couple who walk in, they are not being stop and harass! The poodles did not stop them at all! Or when there’s an ang moh as a passanger in a cab or an ang moh driving their own car, they are not being stop at all! But why are locals and the Myanmar nationals being stop? Why the double standard in the enforcement?
Is it because our poodles still think that the ang moh is more powerful and superior so they cant be touch? Or is the ang moh is the poodles master? If that is the case, i would suggest to the poodles that they go to the European/Western countries and become their slaves, their servants, their maids and gardeners! Why is our poodles still having this kind of mentality. Singapore is an independent country but our poodles are not, as they are still the slaves of the ang moh!
I’m truly saddened by this. I’m ashamed of being a Singaporean. I’m ashame of the poodles. I’m ashame of this governtment. What is the role of the poodles? Are they suppose to be protecting the people or are they suppose to be oppressing the people? Think about it. I have no more faith in our system…

Salim, diplomatic… ASEAN is not just Singapore, its between all the South East Asia countries. LOOK! before this… are our country democratic?look far behind…. Sang Nila Utama times… is it democratic? even Brunei is none democratic country, vietnam etc. We are unable to interfere in other countries matters.
You are proud, to be in the protest but for me it a shame, you bring down your name, if we have millions of Singaporean behaving like you and protesting, our economic will goes down. Tourist and traders will afraid to come to Singapore. Then Singapore will end up like the 3rd world countries. Find a solution and find out why is the government doing something which u disagree, don’t just simply jumped to conclusion.

The comments made by Firdaus does not relate at all to the posting i’ve made. The government is proud to claim Singapore as a First world country but i urge one and all to look beneath all that, is it really true? By being part of a protest, for human rights, to stand united with our fellow brothers and sisters in Myanmar and the monks who are being detained, tortured and killed, will NOT bring down my name. I have my own conscience, i’m a human being with a heart and i’ll do what i think is right. our economy wont go down just because of a protest… Just look at Hong kong, Malaysia, America etc. Does their economy goes down whenever there is a protest? Ask yourself this. The only solution is to hold true to our pledge which is “… to build a DEMOCRATIC society, base on JUSTICE and EQUALITY…” and last but not least, i’ll make it clear to one and all that in whatever decisions i’ve made, I NEVER JUMP TO CONCLUSION!
